Hi Graham

This is what I have on DICKASON/SHELVER/OOSTHUIZEN

Robert Dickason, b. 1783 (IGI shows his birth in London, England) - not sure
that is correct!. Believe that his family were in Scalen's (sp?) party of 1820
Settlers and would therefore be from Cork, Ireland (?). Robert Dickason's wife
was Emily (CLAYBROOK), b. 1787. I do not know how many children they had but I
do show a daughter, Amelia Dickason, b. 2 March 1809 arriving with her parents.

Amelia Dickason x Jonathan SHELVER who was born 21 April 1793 in England.
Jonathan died 8 May, 1863 in Adelaide, Cape. Amelia, his wife, died 23
December 1875 at Peddie, Cape Prov. (Note that Jonathan Shelver was also a
member of Scalen's party which was from Cork, Ireland). Jonathan Shelver and
Amelia (Dickason) had 8 children. I do have their names and birthdates. I
also found an LDS entry for Ann Shelver, b. 1834 which I did not have in my
notes (so possibly 9 children?).

One of the children born to Jonathan Shelver and his wife, Amelia (Dickason)
was named Augustus SHELVER, born 31 July 1833 at Grahamstown, Cape Prov.
Augustus Shelver x Thysina Germina OOSTHUIZEN , b. 24 August 1835 at Uitenhage.

These are the names of the children born to Robert DICKASON and his wife Emily
(Claybrook):
Amelia Dickason, b. abt 1807; Frederick Dickason, b. abt. 1809; Alfred
Dickason, b. abt. 1811; Henry Dickason, b. abt. 1814. Obviously these
children arrived with their parents in Scalen's party.

That's all the information I have on the DICKASONs. I will see what else I can
find amongst my notes on OOSTHUIZEN - sure is a tough name to research -
believe Pretoria has 10,000 + entries!

Regards,
Dawn HURN Voit
