Subject: Petzer family in Natal- Felixton

Hi Eillen, Harry etc
I worked as the engineer of "The Ngoya Paper Mill" in Felixton in
1947-1948 and
my
mechanical foreman was from Germany (I remember he and an Italian worker
having great arguments about WW2). I unfortunately can not remember his
name, it
being a fair while ago now. The paper mill was right next door to the Sugar
Mill and
used the waste "bagasse" or fibre to make paper (kraft) from. The owner of
the paper
mill was from Northern Italy (a Dr. Romano I seem to remember). If since
then the paper
mill closed (have no idea). Staff such as that may have been taken on by
the sugar mill company and moved to another mill. Do you know Harry what the
trade
or occupation was of that PETZER, that may help as well,as approximate
dates?
Hope you are not flooded out down at Richards Bay, Eileen. We have
been hearing
dreadfull reports of the devastating floods reaching even to Maputa in the
old Lourenco
Marques, Portuguese East Africa region. I canot keep up with all the place
name changes
of recent years.
