Subject: Death Notices Indexes Cape Masters Office

Thank you everyone who replied in reaction to my concern at the
condition of the Death Notice Indexes at the Masters Office.

I spoke to the Master, Mr Gouws, who was equally concerned about the
condition of the idexes. Apparently, part of the problem at the
moment at the Masters Office was caused by someone who had set fire
to documents in the hall. They will be busy for another few weeks
fixing the damage caused by the fire.

They have received some computers which will be installed as soon as
the damage has been repaired. In theory Mr Gouws said that he
would welcome any help he can get in capturing the idexes into a
computer package. I will be seeing him shortly so we can work out
the best way that the GSSA could help to capture the indexes.

I would like to add to my list of volunteers who would be able
to help with this task. I suspect at the moment that we would have
to type the data into a word processor but am open to suggestions.
Obviously volunteers would have to be available in the Cape Town area.
