I am new to this list and am trying to find anyone of the name BRATCHIE and
CREDIDIO.

It is known that some members of the BRATCHIE family came out to South
Africa some years ago but it is not known precisely when at this stage. All
of this name in the UK came from the one family line and a number of them
went to South Africa, but nothing further is known.

The second name CREDIDIO is a bit touchy to mention. No racial connotations
are intended with the following. I have two adult males in the CREDIDIO
line that disappeared at the turn of the 1900s. One of them an Andrew was
said, by his sister of that time, that he had run away to sea and had
married and had many "pickaninnies". This was a memory from a grandchild
living today.

My question on this one would have to be: in this time period what race of
people would they possibly be talking about? Knowing this could narrow down
the area of my search if it related to a particular country.

If anyone can help here it would be most appreciated. Any replies please
place name of discussion in the Subject line for my filtering purposes.
Many thanks in advance.
