Could someone send me in the correct direction in connection with this
couple.

I have a death notice of a Johannes Casparus Piek, dated 1 November 1850,
indicating that he was 51 years 11 days old at death. That would make his
birth around October 1799. He was married to Susanna Johanna Vermeulen,
and left 6 children, one of age and 5 minors.

His parents are shown as Johannes Casparus Piek and Catharina Hattingh.

I cannot find these last Johannes Casparus Piek and Catharina Hattingh in
their respective family trees in the Familia articles published over the
years.

The children of Johannes Casparus Piek (1799-1850) are shown as
Johannes Casparus
Christoffel Johannes
Hendrik Johannes
Haans (sic) Jacob
Johan George Christiaan
Susanna Johanna Catharina

The naming of the children seems to agree with the practice at the time
of the first son being named after the father's father, Johannes
Casparus Piek
, and the second son named after the mother's father, though he seems to
be named after her grandfather, Christoffel Johannes Vermeulen. I tried
to find a Hendrk Johannes Hattingh to see if he had a daughter Catharina
born around 1770 who married a Johannes Casparus Piek, but with no luck.

At present I cannot find parents for either Johannes Casparus Piek, ca
1770, or Catharina Hattingh, ca 1770.

Any suggestions?
