I'm not able to add anything to what was published in my book. Would like to
have more detail as well if anything surfaces. Regards, Graham Dickason ,

The Holdich Family History Society in England are seeking details
of Robert Holditch 1790-1822, surgeon, who with his wife and two
children were members of Parker's Party with the 1820 Settlers.

Albany Museum have kindly sent details from GB Dickason's book
"Irish Settlers to the Cape" to the effect that Robert was appointed
Medical Officer at Clanwilliam Settlement, but resigned in December
1820. He died as the result of a drowning accident near Paarl in 1822.

Are we being too ambitious in hoping to discover more details
regarding Robert's short period in South Africa with the Settlers? Also
his burial details, possible will and how and when his widow and young
children returned to England. Rumour has it a third child may have been
born posthumously.

What are our chances on expanding our present knowledge in order
to give Robert a significant place in the international One-Name Study
of the Holdich name at present being undertaken?
I shall be grateful for your advice. Many thanks.

Deborah Taylor
Secretary
Holdich Family History Society
