I, too, am looking for some guidance in tracking down a brother of my g
grandfather, Robert William SURRY (b.1841). Although born in Suffolk,
Robert and his parents were transferred by the British Preventive Services
to Hastings in Sussex by 1845. Robert, his brother, Frederic, and sisters,
Mary Ann, Sophia, Elizabeth, Emma, and Maria grew up in the Hastings,
Bexhill area.

We do know from an old photograph that Robert went to South Africa sometime
around 1875 - 1890. After that we have nothing. Any help or advice would
be most appreciated.
