Hello all:

I have two family related projects this year.

The first is a gathering of the Robertson Clan skedded for late
September in George. At this stage I am expecting several (?) hundred
people. Have any of you been involved with or organized such an event
and can you offer suggestions and advice about things to be on offer.
Also, I would like to get as much publicity as possible, any suggestions
on that. Included in my schedule of a weekend of events is guided
visits to the many old family farms in area, lunch, multi-media
presentation of family tree and history, and a braai on the Saturday and
a non-denominatal service, brunch and more family farm visits on
Sunday. We're planning separate entertainment for the young ones.
We're going to take pictures with a digital camera and produce a
magazine to commemorate the event. We hope to attract local cottage
industry types to set up stalls etc. at the venue.

The second project is publication of our, Robertson, family history and
tree as soon as possible after the gathering. Has anyone done this? Is
there a publisher, preferably in the Johannesburg area, that specializes
in this type of publication?
