Thanks for your interest. Yes I knew about George Shilling (who was
William's father), that they were bricklayers and their arrival on the
"Edward Oliver" and I have their ancestry going back a number of
generations in Norfolk but I didn't want to overwhelm the list with too
much info.
I have not read Esme Bull's book - what is it called? Do you have the
ISBN number in order that I can try and lay my hands on a copy? I also
did not know the name or employment connection with Mr Paul of
Rondebosch so these titbits are very welcome.
