What if he doesn't want to be helped?
I tried to help---was ignored----what to do? Keep flogging a dead horse?
The excuse I have heard that he is mainly a computer expert and not
a genealogist holds no ground in my opinion. By the sound of it he has
developed a great system (according to others) easy to access and use.
If the system is correct all you need to do is to add correct information.
If you enter Empress Maria Theresa you should enter all her children,
not just some. It is better to have one 'complete' family than fragments
of three. If he is at a University he should have access to 'good'
sources.
Do you know the Pitkin "Pride of Britain" Books and Colour Souvenirs?
I like them very much and have quite a few. They are about 25 pages
each; 'pretty' with pictures and just touching the subject.
There is a whole series on churches, Cathedrals; famous cities, Museums
there are several on History and Famous people. I would love to have
them all, but would not dare to quote them as a 'genealogical' source.
If he is 'too busy' to add information or answer questions, he should
get someone to help him. Academics wanting 'feathers' on their cap
for minimal efforts and he is not the only one.
Sorry to sound sour---but I have tried to be positive, ask Herbert Stoyan.
