Hello Ken,
Welcome to the list!
>1. Moodie
>3. Some Rhodesian families
>5. Ancient families
My family are Cawood/Hulley - both of 1820 Settllers stock. My family went
to Rhodesia circa 1900 and lived in Umtali and surroundings.
The Moodies of Melsetter? were somehow connected to the Hulleys.
My family in brief:
David Cawood - Settler.
William Cawood / Sarah Hulley (d.o. Richard Hulley - Settler)
James Smith Cawood b. Albany d Melsetter m.Anna Moriah Hulley (gdaughter of
Richard Hulley) d Umtali.
David Henry Cawood b Umtali d Rusape, m Rhoda? Hulley d Umtali.
James Henry Cawood b Umtali d Pietersburg m Alvera Bornman b.Barberton.
I am the fourth of their six children also all born Umtali.
I have a copy of Allen Cawood's book "The Ancient Family of Cawood of
Cawood, Yorkshire" which gives the early Yorkshire days and another line of
Cawoods from the original settlers.
Does the Moodie book mention Cawood / Hulley?
If I can help with more detail on the above, let me know.
And if you have more to add to my very lean basic details I'll be happy.
Regards
Betty Murray
