Maybe its a long shot, but wasn't Barbados one of the islands used to house Boer prisoners of war, like Ceylon & St.Helena? The name you give in Lower Albany is a farm name, as opposed to a placename. A good map from the Govt. Survey Office would pinpoint the exact location.
