Through research, I have narrowed down the possibilities of which ship
in which my ancestors Joseph William Rands and wife Sarah Rodia Anderson
Rands came to Cape Town. It appears that they came as government aided
passengers (free passage) on the Ship Athenian which left Plymouth in
Oct 1847 and arrived in Cape town in December in 1847.

There appears to be no surviving list of the passengers on that ship for
that voyage so my determination that they came on it is still
circumstantial.

Now the question. Do any of you have ancestors who also arrived on the
Athenian? Did they leave any kind of account/journal/diary about the
trip? I would love to hear from you.
