More questions please for someone. Perhaps Marty and Eileen could look in
GERMANS IN KAFFRARIA again please?
1. Dorothea Elizabeth Zeiler married Christopher Hudson McComb - don't know
where or when. Don't know how she got to SA. They had four children - one
was called Johanna Wilhelmina McComb and another Stephen (Stephanus)
Johannes Van Wyk McComb. Where did these German Christian names
originate?
2. Dorothea Francina Zeiler married Stephen (Stephanus) Johannes Van Wyk
McComb. Her father was Johannes Jacobus Zeiler and he was born 12 January
1798. Lived in Cape Town, Cradock, 'Schaape Kraal' - Tarkastad, and in
Fordyce (Queenstown). He was a farmer and a Justice of the Peace. He
farmed 'Schaape Kraal' in Tarkastad. He was a member of Cradock school
commission 1843. Became a JP in 1840. He was given 'Fordyce Fontein' in
1858 by the High Commissioner.
His father was Johann Friederich Zeiler born in Pancevo (outside Belgrade)
Serbia. Married Dorothea Catherina Mulder in Cape Town 23 November 1794.
Clearly they were very early Settlers. Anyone any ideas please.
Best regards
