Hi Sonia

Whilst going through my old SA Gen. mail I came across this following
question you asked regarding the Archives and Master of Supreme Court, I
have deleted the other provinces as I do not have information on them.

As I was there just two or three days ago looking for some death notices I
can pass the following information on to you.

I mistakenly went to the Archives for one request of a death notice dated
1954, it was my first time, I was told to go to the Masters as they have
all the records dated 1950 - present, while the Archives had the records up
until 1950. The strange thing was, that when I was at the Masters, the lady
that helped me, said that she could not find the one notice I wanted and
had even looked as far back as 1948. At the time I did not think to enquire
as to how she was able to do this, as was I then incorrect in my
understanding, given to me 1 hour previously by the Archives, that the
Masters records only began at 1950.??
