Hi fellow rooters,
I'm Anne Lehmkuhl. Came to Canada in 1996, from South Africa. Currently
publisher/editor of Generations - a South African genealogy newsletter.
Have been involved in genealogy for the last 11 years. Am in the process of
getting my South Afican genealogy reference books shipped to Canada, which
contain valuable data on South African families. Willing to help out with
any South African related query.

My fields of interest are in capitals: I have traced my husband's family
back to 1775 so far. He is a great-great-great-grandson of William MOORE
and Ann DOVE, 1820 British Settlers. One of their sons, William MOORE
junior married Petronella Catharina TERBLANCHE (possibly descended from the
French Huguenots at the Cape) in 1827 in NG Kerk, Uitenhage, Cape Colony.
William and Petronella's daughter, Petronella Catharina MOORE married
Frederick Daniel Christian LEHMKUHL in 1847 in Union Chapel, Port
Elizabeth. Frederick was born in Germany, emigrated to South Africa circa
1840's. Frederick and his in-laws established the town of Willowmore in the
Cape in 1862, building the first school and NG Kerk there. Frederick and
Petronella had 8 children, including a daughter Johanna Catharina LEHMKUHL
who married Peter Lewis FORD, who later with a partner, established the
suburbs of Fordsburg and Jeppestown in Johannesburg.
Also looking for any info on Charles William SMITH born 15 January 1899 in
Cape Town, died 09 January 1950 in Johannesburg. His second wife was
Charlotte Hilda SWART or STEWART or STEWARD, born 20 June 1906 in Cape Town
and died 27 February 1932 in Cape Town.

Thank you for your interest.
Anne Lehmkuhl
