Good morning all. My name is Michael Butler; I was born in Pretoria, but
was forcibly removed at the tender age of three months to less hospitable
climates. I may someday forgive my parents.... I now live in Hamilton,
Canada. Which, as you might imagine, complicates the search for a South
African past....

My mother's family is from around Cape Town... in particular, I'm
looking for SOLOMON's on my mother's father's side. Related names may be
LEVINSKI and PILINSKI. I'm not entirely sure of any more details, but
there have been hints about Poland, which might follow from the names.

My maternal grand-mother's side is a different story. She is not very
forthcoming, but her mother was a TWINEHAM(sp?), from Maidstone, Kent; she
emigrated to SA and apparently took up with a KANNEMEYER, after which she
headed for India.

If any of this sounds familiar, I'd love to hear from you. I'd also love
to hear from anyone who might be able to do some lookups at reasonable
rates.
