I read your intro to Roots and have some information on Snell family.

Charlotte MILLER b.1860? married ? SNELL probably in Kimberley. They had
children, Fred, Lilian, Lionel (died at age 34) and Bert who worked for
Barlows Engineering.

Charlotte SNELL then married Patrick Joseph MURRAY (born Dublin 1844? died
Johannesburg 24 Aug 1929). They were married in Kimberley 4 Jan 1887. The
children from this marriage were:
Patrick (born 21 May 1890), Mary Anne (born 26 Feb 1894) and possibly
Julia (born 30 Sept 1896) and possibly Edward William (born 29 Sept 1887).
All born in Kimberley and baptised at St. Mary's Catholic Church,
Kimberley. Charlotte's SNELL and MURRAY children grew up together.

Patrick Joseph MURRAY was my husband's (Patrick's) great-grandfather so
have more detailed information about the Murrays. A surviving Murray uncle
remembers the Snell children as his aunts and uncles.

A bit confusing but if you need more info, or have info on these folk,
