Hello Everyone

My name is Glennis Snell from Pretoria, SA. I am researching both my
husband's and my families - some of the names I'm interested in (and
where they emigrated to SA from) are:

Snell (Cornwall)
Shone (1820 settler)
Sheehan (Ireland)
Van der Hoff and Hirschmann (Netherlands)
Hindes and Wright (Norwich, Norfolk, UK)
Pratley and Young (Oxford, UK)
Knipe (St Helena)
Meyer (UK/Germany?)

For the moment I'm concentrating on my grandfather, Frederick James
HINDES, who came to SA with the British troops during the Anglo-Boer
war. He was Fire Chief of Pretoria from 1914-1938. My
grandmother (his first wife) was Eva Agnes KNIPE, whose family
emigrated to the Cape from St Helena in the late 1800's. I have a
lot of info. on the St Helena family.
