Dudley, Herbert Coxe

FLORENCE -- Herbert Coxe Dudley, 89, of 1111 Courtland Ave., died Wednesday
morning, Feb. 18, 2004, in a Florence health care facility after an illness.

Mr. Dudley was born in Marlboro County, a son of the late George Fred and
Lillie Velle Coxe Dudley Sr. He was a member of Central United Methodist
Church and had retired from the Florence Morning News after more than 45
years of service.

He is preceded in death by four brothers, Harvard E. Dudley, John Richard
Dudley, George Fred Dudley Jr. and Charles W. Dudley; and a sister, Helen
Spencer.

Surviving are his wife, Miriam Wise Dudley of Florence; sister-in-law, Mary
C. Dudley of Florence; and niece, Helen Dudley of Florence.

Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association Palmetto Chapter, P.O.
Box 80459, Charleston, SC 29416.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 20, at Florence Memorial
Gardens. Burial will follow in the cemetery directed by Stoudenmire-Dowling
Funeral Home.
