Subject: Mosesburg Diamond Diggings (Near Barkly West, Cape Province).
Date: Sun, 21 May 2006 18:44:18 +0100
Can anyone provide me with any information about the circumstances which lead to the discovery of diamonds at Mosesburg c.1919 and the subsequent diamond rush that followed into the area. Any information what so ever about the history of these short lived diggings would be of use. I am also in need of a good quality high resolution map scan of this area, ideally showing the area of the various diggings between Mosesburg, Sydney on Vaal and Barkly West. Can anyone help me? A friend of mine researching her ancestry has recently found several photographic postcards of the diggings from the 1920s which belonged to her relatives that were prospectors in the area during the 1920s.
Best Regards
