Dear Cynthia

I read your email on the SA List, and as a result, I am being a bit 'cheeky'
in writing to you to see if you can offer me some assistance, not on your
list of Death Notices, but in a related area.

I am in Tasmania, Aust. and it is hard to find info on SA - My Father's
family came from Cornwall and one Great Uncle, George or James George
NICHOLL, came to SA in 1874. He married a Charlotte Victoria Baisdorf of
Ultenhage, South Africa. Their daughter, Florence May NICHOLL later came to
Tassie and married her cousin, Oswald Nicholl. Both died here, so I am
interested in finding out more on the parents, Charlotte and George
Nicholl. I believe George sold goods for the Trekkers moving out into the
country areas, initially and then later, became a jeweller. I believe he
became quite wealthy. There was also a son who was killed while fighting in
a war, somewhere, but I have no knowledge of his name.

If you can make any suggestions as to whom I should write, or any internet
sites that would prove useful, I would be most grateful. As 'locals' also
researching, I am hopeful that you can 'shed more light' on what to do and
where to look, than my attempts here have provided!!
