Thanks to all who responded regarding my aircraft query. I have scanned the
photo and sent it off to a couple of listers who offered to find out more
for me.

For those with an interest in the subject, while photographs can be
deceptive, the craft looks much more slender than did the Hindenburg but
perhaps as long or longer. It is marked R34 on the side, front and rear.
The rear divides into what look like four fins, two vertical and two
horizontal. As far as I can see, there are circles (outer dark, middle
light, inner dark) on the nose cone, mid-way towards the belly, and on both
the vertical fins. The cradle (if that's what it is called) is slightly
past the halfway mark toward the cone end of the craft.

That's as much as I can make out.

Regards. Delia Robertson.

| Hello all:
|
| Any there any aviation enthusiasts among you? I have a couple of
| photographs of a Zeppelin type aircraft which I estimate were taken in the
| early 1920's. Did any of these aircraft visit South Africa or were any
made
| here in that timeframe?
