Hi,

I would like to interject something here. Something similar happened when
working
on one of my fathers lines. An eager beaver cousin found the name of Levi
King in
the 1890 Civil War Census. This Levi was a brother to my 3rd great
grandfather, Saml. Marion King. This cousin decided to send away for a
tombstone on a Levi
King who served in a particular unit. This was NOT the correct person. I
sent away
for pension records using the troop number on the headstone, and the dates and
information on Uncle Levi....Low & behold they were NOT the same person.

The Levi that is listed as serving in this particular outfit, served and
joined in a troop
ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE STATE...400 miles...almost. Uncle Levi lived
outside of Fredericktown , Madison Co., MO. in southeast Missouri. The other
Levi lived and died and fought in Southwest Missouri, outside of Springfield
(Near Branson), and
his troop was NEVER anywhere near the southeastern part of the state. We did
find Uncle Levi as possibly serving in the local state militia unit. While
traditional
stories are good, this one stands out as one story, that should tell you to
do the
correct research first. There are people coming to take pictures of this
tombstone
and are proud that this is their ancestor...when it is REALLY NOT him....

Then all of this false information gets out, and someone (good intentioned of
course)
puts it on their website, where it becomes viewable for hundreds of people.
Just a
story that sounded like this one, and I thought I would input it for some
thought.
Isn't it possible that it is the wrong John Rogers? That ours and the one on
the headstone are two entirely different individuals?

Thanks
Michael
