I am sorry to cause such confusion, Ancestry.COM sponsors the "U.S.
Immigration collection", which is a subscription site. I believe when I
refer to the "LDS", Ancestry.com is just one of its affiliates, I was not
clear using the term "LDS" when I should have said "Ancestry.com". But I
wasn't sure whether it was on "Ancestry", "MyFamily" or a similar program.
I personally have "Ancestry.com", with the U.K. census, It is a very
valuable resource, but a bit expensive.
Ellis Island.org. is free and is very helpful in locating ships manifests,
and you don't need to pay.
I know FamilySearch is free, I use it all the time. The site is also very
helpful, but Ancestry.com has quick access to so many records, without it, I
would still have many brick walls.
