Subject: KINNICUT - WOOLSEY - Justices of the Peace?

Can anyone tell me if John KINNICUT or Thomas WOOLSEY were ever Justices of
the Peace in Bristol County, Rhode Island or Bristol County, Massachusetts
in the 1760s?

I have a copy of a land deed signed by my ancestors Joseph and Freelove
(MASON) COLE in 1765. Joseph and Freelove were living in New York at the
time (they were "of Perkipcy [Poughkeepsie], Duchess County" according to
the deed), but the land that they sold was in Swansea, where they had once
lived.

I'm having a hard time reading all of this record, but it looks to me like
it says that they appeared before "John Kinnicut, Justice of Peace" in
"Bristol ss Warren" on 28 September 1765. Then there was a second
statement signed by Thomas WOOLSEY, Justice of Peace, possibly of Ulster
County (again, hard to read) in December 1767. The other witnesses to the
deed were listed as James WHEELER and Hezekiah KINNICUT.

So I'm confused as to whether the deed was actually signed in New York
where Joseph and Freelove were living, in Warren RI where it looks like
John KINNICUT may have notarized it, or in Swansea MA, where the land was
and where the deed was recorded. If I could figure out where these
witnesses and Justices of the Peace were living, maybe that would give me a
clue.
