Over the years the name Hinchinbrooke has flip-flopped as far as being
written with the "e" & without the "e." My understanding is that the
correct & now official way is with the "e." Unless something new has
developed lately in the area, Hinchinbrooke is not the name of any town or
village in that area but is strictly the name of a Township in Huntingdon
County. Roughly, Hinchinbrooke Township is bounded by the Canada/USA
border on the south, Elgin Township on the west, Godmanchester Township on
the north, St. Malachie & Franklin Townships on the east. Hinchinbrooke
Township began its independence as a separate municipality in 1799.
