This is in reply to the query dated 10/01/2003 from Sharon Mills. She would
like to know who are the parents of William Macy Hadley.

According to "A Hadley Genealogy" Volume III, edited by Curtis E.
Healton and published in 1974 by The Hadley Genealogical Society, William Macy
Hadley was born 21 Feb. 1845 in Morgan County, IN. He died 21 Nov. 1882 and was
buried in Dayton, OR. He married 11 Sept. 1872 Harriet Fuson, daughter of
John B. and Harriet P. (Kelly) Fuson. They had four children: Ellis Macy Hadley,
Walter Brooke Hadley, Louis Fuson Hadley, and Elizabeth Macy (Hadley)
Newhouse. Walter Brooke Hadley was the first president of The Hadley Genealogical S
ociety of Southern California, started about 1920. He lived at Redlands, CA.
Other descendants lived at Dayton, OR.

William Macy Hadley was a son of Thomas Marshall Hadley and Lucinda
Macy.

Thomas Marshall Hadley was a son of Isaac Hadley and Ruth Marshall.
He married Lucinda Macy on 25 Nov 1838 at Mooresville, IN

Lucinda Macy, b. 30 Aug. 1818, Jefferson County, TN, d. 1893, was a
daughter of William and Hannah (Hinshaw) Macy.

On pages 19-20 of Vol. III of Healton' s "Hadley Genealogy", there is
an account of the Macy family which includes the following:

"------William Macy m. 1 Mar 2809 at the Lost Creek MH, Jefferson Co,
Tenn, Hannah Hinshaw. dau of William and Margaret (Hunt) Hinshaw. They
moved to Randolph Co, Ind in 1820, settling in West river Twp nr the head
of West River Creek. There they lived for the next 36 yrs. In 1856,
William and Hannah moved to Morgan Co, Ind, where
several of their children had gone to live.
" Willam and Hannah Macy had fourteen children, as follows:
Jonathan B., who m. Matilda Pierce, and whose granddaughter, Leonora Charlotte
Beard, m Thomas P. Hadley; Nathan H., who m. Susannah Lewis; Alvah J., who m
Mary Lewis; Elihu C.; John H., who m Elmira Marshall; Lucinda, who m
Thomas M. Hadley; William M., who m Julia Ann Mills; Margaret Ann, who m Levi
S. Hadley; Sarah, who m Thomas L. Hadley; Perry T., who m lst Charity Mills
{sister of Julia Ann), m 2nd Rebecca (Bowles) Hadley, widow of Amos Hadley;
Ira C., who m Achsa Johnson, Ruth, who m. Miles S. Hadley; Mary, who m
Albert Hadley; and Lydia A., who m John Franklin Hadley."

Therefore, it appears that William Macy Hadley's mother, Lucinda Macy,
was a sister William Macy, who married Julia Ann Mills.

I hope that I have figured this out correctly!
