Subject: [Q-R] Quaker Dates
Date: Wed, 05 Jun 2002 10:01:57 -0600
Lately, I have been working extensively with the Nantucket Vital Records to
1850. I have found the data very helpful, but somewhat confusing since it
was compiled from so many sources and often contains more than one date (or
even several dates) for a single event. I have decided that I would really
like to be very accurate in my data entry and so I have been attempting to
follow the date change when they were beginning the year on March
25th. But I have discovered that I don't really have accurate information
about when that began nor when it changed to our present dating system. Can
someone give me a URL for a site that contains ACCURATE information. I do
have Silvanus J. Macy's book that somewhat explains the dating, but does
not give the time when it began nor a specific time when they began using
the present system. Thank you for your assistance.
