Hi Gene,
The Social Security Death Index is available in several places.
However, I've found the one at www.ancestry.com is the best and most up to
date one. It is among their free services. It is also available on Family
Tree Maker. On the first page of Cyndis List there is also a listing.
They don't all necessarily have the same information.

you can access it thru <ancestry.com> It is the most often updated one that
I have come across.
Good luck.

Hi Gene -- I think there are several ways to get at SSDI -- try
http://www.ancestry.com. It's one of their free databases.
