Would like to add info re Quakers of Maryland from article "Some Friends
of Ye Friends in Ye Ministry," by Emerson B. Roberts from "MD
Genealogies," reprinted from "MD Historical Magazine" ...
"George Fox came to MD in 1672 to visit among the Friends on both sides
of the Bay. While at the head of Third Haven [creek], he was at the home
of JOHN EDMONSON, wealthy planter & merchant [of Talbot Co Md], one of
the earliest settlers on the Eastern Shore. Out of his Talbot visit came
the first Meeting in MD, organized in home of WENLOCK CHRISTISON. From
this [meeting] came Betty's Cove Meeting with its Meeting House on Miles
River, which continued until "our joint Quarterly Meeting for both
shores held at home of RALPH FISHBOURNE, 27th day of First Month 1683.
The Meeting decided upon a greater house, and it was agreed that Betty's
Cove be removed to Ye Great Meeting house." Third Haven framed with good
white oak stands today, not only the OLDEST MEETING HOUSE in AMERICA,
but an enduring monument to those who framed it. Many families who
worshiped there today bear the names of those at the first meeting: the
24th of the 8th month 1684."
Article contains genealogy of DIXON, GARY, HARWOOD, CHRISTISON, SHARPE
families of Talbot Co MD.

Genealogy of Dawson family of Talbot Co Md. can be found in "Colonial
Families of Eastern Shore of MD," by Barnes & Wright, Vol 3.
Chart of "first Dawsons of MD" from Coldham & Skordas are on web page.
