Hi,
I have been doing research in the St. John's (St. Jean) area and it has gone through several name changes. Originally it was Ft. St. John and then became Dorchester (not to be confused with the Township of Dorchester south of Quebec City). In the census indexes it is referred to as St. Jean d'Iberville.
Hope this helps.
