Hi  - My maternal GG-father was an Eastern Kentucky Pennington descended from the
Lee County, VA.
areas mentioned in several recent notes. I've just been able to trace him back to
the Micajah Pennington of
Lee County also mentioned, and also listed on page 674 of "Early Settlers or Lee
Co., Virginia", Volume II
that has been quoted. My line of Micajah's descendents include:
Micajah  Pennington  b 4/28/1743 Lee Co
Micajah Jr.   b. 12/13/1763 Lee Co.
 Charles   b. 1805  VA
 Greenberry   b. 5/2/1826 Lee Co
 Alexander H  b. 4/4/1868 VA or KY (my gg-father)
 Cassie Pennington b. 12/8/1892 KY

Other than names, I have very little on the Lee County Penningtons, so any other
information on individuals
in the Lee county branch would be welcomed, as well as any info on Micajah
ancestors.

Incidentally, on another Pennington family, the book "In Cold Blood" by Virginia
Culen Roberts is a
fantastic true story about a Pennington family from South Carolina that endured
amazing hardships in
settling in the Arizona Territory prior to the Civil War. As many of us from
Eastern Ky have some Indian
ancestors (Cherokee) as well, there is some appreciation for both sides of the
story! Father  of the Arizona
settlers was Elias Green Pennington, b 16 Apr 1809, SC, m. Julia Ann Hood 8 Sept
1831.  One of their family
traditions (page 12) was that the family descended from Elijah Pennington, a
soldier at Valley Forge  who
obtained a large bounty land grant in Virginia for his service.
