A James McCarty.McCarthy/McCarter sold a tract land of 100 acres located in
Upper Smithfield on the Delaware River on Aug 21, 1771, to a John Murphy.
The next deed abstract when the land was sold again by Murphy, in the
history of the land the original owner was listed as being James McCarty.
The land was adjoining Nehemiah Smith, Joseph Ryder, and Cornelius Dewitt.

Mary executrix. Mentions Margaret wife of Timothy McCARTY; Mary wife of
George SANTEE; Jane wife of Thomas ORR.

Hope some of this is of help. It sounds like a James McCarty definitely
owned ppty in Upper Smithfield as of 1771 which positions James McCarty a
possible father. I am wondering if this is the same James McCarty whose son
Philip was baptized at the RDC Machackemack in 1754. It is possible that
this Philip bp 1754 was a first son Philip who died young... and your Philip
b. 1759 could have been another son named Philip. No other children for
James McCarty and Elizabeth/Lisabeth Mey/Meyer after the 1754 baptism.

There are some children bp for James McCarty and Elizabeth Meyer before
1754. Let me know if you need them.
