Subject: [PA-Pike] Roll Call -- Cassidy and Engelhart

This is a re-post.

Michael Cassidy and his wife, Margaret Hinds, and their only son,
Christopher, emigrated from Ireland in 1872 to settle first in Kingston,
NY, and are listed there in an 1880 census. Then they moved to
Shohola, PA, where their son, Christopher, met and later married Mary
Elizabeth Engelhart, daughter of Casper Engelhart and Ann Marz.
Christopher and Mary Elizabeth had four children in Shohola. Later,
Christopher returned to Kingston with his family. I can't find any
reference to either Michael or Margaret returning with them. Question:
did Michael and Margaret remain in Shohola where they died and were
buried? If so, does anyone have knowledge of Michael and Margaret
(Hinds) Cassidy in Shohola?

Incidental: both Michael and Christopher were listed as being quarrymen
in Kingston, where they worked in the bluestone quarries. In Shohola
they may have worked in Valentine Engelhart's quarry. The Engelhart
quarry may have closed, prompting Christopher's return to Kingston.
Family lore has it that Michael drove a wagon for the A&P Company,
selling coffee, tea and spices in the Pike County area. I can't.
however, confirm this, nor can I place this in a sequence of events if
true. Any information would be gratefully received.
