My transcription (webiste listed below) lists three COURSEN/COURREN
families in Pike County in 1850, headed by Allen, Shafer and John
respectively all born in NJ and all farmers.

The 1850 census for Pennsylvania as indexed elsewehere shows quite a
number of COURSEN families in Lycoming Co Shrewsberry Twp. Most seem
to be from one or two older families - all born in PA.

Happy searching.
