Hello,

My surname ancestors (Reiley) spent some time around Rowland, Pike Co. PA.
This time frame appears to be between 1873-1878. Two brothers (canal
boatmen) from New Jersey and their families seem to have spent that time
period centered on the Rowland (Lackawaxen River) area. During that time a
child was born to one and the other brother had a daughter who married a
resident of Rowland. About 1880 one of the brothers and his family along
with some families from the Rowland area moved to Newaygo County Michigan.
The other brother moved back to New Jersey.

Does anyone have any idea of what may have attracted those two canalboatmen
to the area and what may have caused them to leave?

Best wishes,
Dennis Reiley
