Seeking information on Henry Van Wey (Van Why, Van Way, Van Wye) [died 1814]
who married Mary Lewis [1781 -1855] in Pike County area in 1794. Per the DAR
records he served in the PA militia from the Northhampton Co. area during the
Revolution. He seems to have spent most of his life living in the area now
in Monroe County, most likely one of the Smithfield Twps. Any information on
his children, siblings and ancestors would be appreciated.
I do know of one son named Timothy [1796 - 1871] who married Margaret Heisler
[1808 - 1899] in 1826 in Monroe County. Please advise if you know if Timothy
had any siblings.
I am aware of two daughters, Catherine Van Wey [1830 - 1906] who married
William Hill Garis in 1850 and Margaret Van Wey [1845 - 1900] who married
George A. Hanson in 1865. Did they have any siblings?
Most of these folks seem to have lived in the Monroe County area.
I am also searching for the family of origin for Temperance Van Wey [d. 1843]
who married Samuel Cook. [1779 - 1864]. Also for the correct family to
include Eugene Van Wey. In both cases they seem to be from the Monroe County
area for over 100 years.
Are their modern descendants to any of these folks?
Thank You for any assistance.
