Surname: Bestwick, Minner, Roberts, Moon, Huey
-------------------------
Thomas Bestwick, one of the most prominent citizens of Cool Spring Township,
died Thursday morning at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Pierce Minner,
after a brief illness. Death was caused by paralysis.
On Saturday, while in town on business, he was stricken, falling unconscious
on the street. He was taken to the Minner home and was given every care,
but failed to rally. He was born in Jackson Township seventy years ago
and has spent his entire life in this section. A man of progressive ideas
and strict integrity, he was a citizen who had the respect of all who knew
him and whose death is a distinct loss to the community. He was a veteran
of the Civil War, having served four years in the Roundheads, the 100th
regiment Pennsylvania Volunteers. He is survived by his wife and the following
sons and daughters: John, of East Lackawannock Township; Charles and Bert,
of Cool Spring Township; Lester at home; Mrs Annie Roberts and Mrs. Pierce
Minner, of Mercer. One brother, John, of Cleveland, and two sisters, Mrs.S.J.
Moon, of Mercer and Mrs. Leander Huey of Cool Spring Township, also are
living. Funeral services will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at the family home
and interment will be made in Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
