Bev...have you looked at J.T. Humphrey's collection of books on births in PA
during the 1700's? I have copies for Berks, Bucks and Delaware Counties. I
skimmed them and, as might be expected, there are tons of Smith's...but very
few Cloud's.

Subject: [PAGENWEB] CLOUD & SMITH
I am researching the CLOUD and SMITH surnames. In 1740's Gideon Smith and
his brother, Daniel, are found in Lunenburg Co, Virginia and then that part
of Lunenburg that became Halifax Co., Virginia. In 1747 Daniel and an Isaac
Cloud together had 400 acres surveyed in Halifax County. I was given some
information that the Cloud's were from Pennsylvania and that the Smith
brothers may have come from there as well. Can anyone proved any information
on the Cloud surname that may have been found in Pennsylvania and if/or they
have any connections to the Smith surname there as well? Any information
shared will be most appreciated.
Bev
