My information comes mainly from Johnstown Tribune-Democrat obituaries & articles and has not been
verified:

RAGER - Howard B., 83, 701 1/2 Riverside Ave., died Dec. 15, 1968, at Memorial Hospital. Born
April 26, 1885, in Jackson Township, son of Israel and Rachel (Dunmire) Rager. Preceded in death
by son, Ray, and eight sisters and two brothers. Survived by widow, former Elizabeth Boyle, and
two sons: The Rev. Don K., 115 Oak St., Conemaugh, and Robert, Cresson; also four grandchildren;
and a great-grandchild; and brother, Roy, 415 Oak St., Conemaugh. Member of Riverside Brethren
Church. Retired employe of former PRR. Friends received at John Henderon Co. Funeral Home, 215
Central Ave., after 2 p.m. Monday and until 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, when remains will be removed to
Riverside Brethren Church, where service will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, the Rev. H. Don Rough.
Interment, Headrick Cemetery.

RAGER - Mrs. Elizabeth H. 86, 115 Oak St., Conemaugh, formerly of Vine Street Towers, died March
13, 1975, at home of niece, Mrs. Mary Walters, 905 Riverside Ave. Born Sept. 25, 1888, in
Jefferson County, daughter of William and Janet (Graham) Boyle. Preceded in death by parents,
husband, Howard B. Rager, and infant son, Ray Arthur. Survived by sons, the Rev. Don K., married
to former Hannah Womer, 115 Oak St., Conemaugh, and Robert B., married to former Clara Morehead,
Cresson; also four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Sister of Mrs. Margart Phenicie,
Windber. Member of Riverside Brethren Church. Friends received after 2 p.m. Friday at John
Henderson Co. Funeral Home, 215 Central Ave., where funeral service will be held at 9:30 a.m.
Saturday, the Rev. Don Rough. Interment, Headrick Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, friends have
been asked to contribute to Riverside Brethren Church.

Don K. Ragers wed 50 years
The Rev. and Mrs. Don K. Rager of Moxham observed their 50th wedding anniversary with a family
dinner during a visit with their children in Wheaton, Ill. Mr. Rager and the former Hannah E.
Womer were married Nov. 25, 1939, at the former Conemaugh Methodist Church. Mr. Rager was born in
Conemaugh, son of the late Howard B. and Elizabeth Rager. Mrs. Rager was born in Conemaugh,
daughter of the late John R. and Mary Womer. Mr. Rager worked for Bethlehem Steel Corp. for 22
years before becoming pastor of the Conemaugh Grace Brethren Church. He served the church from
1962 to 1982. Mrs. Rager worked for the Penn Traffic Co. for 17 years. The Ragers are the
parents of two children, Judith A., wife of James G. Kovalik, Wheaton, Ill., and Timothy L.,
married to the former Sharon Campbell, Indianapolis, Ind. There are two grandchildren.

RAGER - Hannah Elizabeth, 87, Upper Yoder Township, formerly of Moxham, went to be with the Lord
April 15, 2002, at Arbutus Park Manor. Born Feb. 19, 1915, in East Conemaugh, daughter of late
John R. and Mary (Tilley) Womer. Preceded in death by sisters, Evelyn Rose and Alverda Grebos; and
brothers, Chris, Howard, Tom and Dick Womer. Survived by loving husband of 62 years, the Rev. Don
K. Rager; children, Judy, married to Jim Kovalik, Johnstown; and Tim, married to Sharon,
Indianapolis; and grandchildren, Griffin Rager, married to Gwyn; and Katie Rager, all of
Indianapolis. Also survived by sister, Betty Penney, Massachusetts; brother, Jim Womer, married to
Ruth, Illinois; and sisters-in-law, Nora, Lilla and Leah Womer; as well as numerous nieces and
nephews. A faithful wife and mother, Hannah also worked for 18 years as a salesclerk at former
Penn Traffic Dept. Store. She was throughout her life involved in various church activities, which
increased in 1962, when her husband left his job at Bethlehem Steel Corp. to become pastor of
Conemaugh Grace Brethren Church. Hannah enjoyed music, reading and crocheting and did a lot of
sewing for her family. Her strong commitment to do what was right, the sparkle in her eyes and her
sense of humor will be missed by all who loved her. At Hannah's request, there will be no public
visitation. Family and friends are invited to attend memorial service at 2 p.m. Saturday at
Conemaugh Grace Brethren Church, corner of Second and Oak streets, Conemaugh, the Rev. H. Don
Rough officiating. Private burial arrangements are being handled by Picking-Treece-Bennett
Mortuary Inc., West Hills. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Hannah's memory to
Conemaugh Grace Brethren Church or to the Alzheimer Association.

RAGER - Mrs. Clara E., 70, 701 Keystone Ave., Cresson, died July 3 at Altoona Hospital. Born
Sept. 4, 1923, in Altoona, daughter of the late Charles and Myra (Brubaker) McKee. Preceded in
death by first husband, Kenneth Moorehead, and sisters, Marjorie Bell and Shirley Miller.
Survived by husband Robert Rager, whom she married Jan. 31, 1953, in Altoona; daughter Sandra
Davis, Roaring Spring; and stepson, Dr. Robert Snyder, Orlando, Fla. Also survived by
grandchildren, Lori Rodgers, Nathan Davis, Barbara Siggins, Erica Snyder, Bridget Snyder and
Kirsten Snyder and two step-great-grandchildren. member of the 28th Street Church of the
Brethren, Altoona. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Charles m.
Kennedy Funeral Home, Cresson, where funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, the
Rev. Don Rager. Interment, Carson Valley Cemetery, Duncansville. In lieu of flowers, donations
may be made to the 28th Street Church of the Brethren.

Anna Clara RAGER, b. 1872, d. 1947, was sister to Howard Blair RAGER. Her second marriage was to
Tom DAVIS. Her obituary “Anna C. Davis” appeared in the Johnstown Tribune 1947-6-5 and Nanty Glo
Journal “Anna C. (RAGER) DAVIS, 75, Nanty Glo, 1947-6-5. I do not have these.
