My wife, who is 60 this year, was raised in the city of Pittsburgh. She went to catholic schools k-8 and the nuns always told the girls that "every time a girl whistled Mary the mother of God would cry".It seems this is something only Catholic girls were told, since none of our friends who went through the "public school " system made note of it
