Hi Listers,
This is my Great Uncle who was born in Sonman, Portage and lived there with the Blahut family until about 1919.

I thought I'd post it so that it will go into the List's archives.

So far in 7 years I have had Zero luck hooking up with anyone else researching this family in Cambria County. I find them on the 1910 census, and it appears that they came over from Austria/Poland in 1903.

I'll show what I have on the family in another post.

Walter A. Blahut Sr.
Plattsburgh, NY Walter A. Blahut Sr., 85, of Battery Street, died Saturday, Nov. 2, 2002, at CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh.

He was born in Pennsylvania on March 10, 1917.

Walter was stationed at the CCC camp in Plattsburgh. He met his wife Helena and made Plattsburgh his home. He had been employed by Pal Blade in Plattsburgh until its closure. He then was employed as a plumber and steamfitter, working for Local 773, retiring in 1979. Walter was a member of Our Lady of Victory Church. He was an avid fisherman, hunter and enjoyed bowling.

Walter is survived by one daughter, Brenda Denny of Galway; a son and daughter-in-law, Walter A. and Susan Blahut of Plattsburgh; two sisters-in-law, Anne Donah of Waltham, Mass., and Peggy Donah of Florida; and several nieces and nephews.

Walter was predeceased by his wife of 53 years, Helena I. Blahut, in 1997.

Calling hours will be Sunday, Nov. 3, 2002, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A wake service will be held Sunday afternoon at 3 p.m.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Monday, Nov. 4, 2002, at 9 a.m. from Our Lady of Victory Church in Plattsburgh. Burial will follow in Whispering Maples Mausoleum in Plattsburgh.

Donations may be made in his memory to Our Lady of Victory Church.
