OK, Justina Long/Lang was one of four sisters who (according to my
grandmother, Rose Holtz Kline) rode horseback to St. Benedict's Church in
Carrolltown to mass. All four girls met and married north of the county men. All were
daughters of Joseph Long, Jr. and Barbara Schwab.
Justina married Charles (or Karl) Anna
Helena married Martin Yahner (he married 2) Mary Kruise)
Barbara married Paul Yahner (cousin of Martin, I believe)
Maria (pronounced Moriah) married Peter Strittmatter, was my g-g-grandmother.
Her daughter, Helena Strittmatter married Leonard Holtz, their daughter Rose
Holtz married Victor Kline, and their son, Regis Kline married Helena
Feighner. The last are my parents.
Helena, and her half-sister, Catherine Strittmatter (dau of 1) Mary Magdalena
Koch) who married Simon Schrift, were the only two girls in that family who
married. Five of their sisters became Benedictine nuns.
Do you have pictures? I have some of the nuns, and Peter and Maria's
Fiftieth Anniversary. I believe Charles Anna is on it, as he was best man. I am not
sure of Justina.
I have photocopied almost all of the Church Records from Leimen, I mean the
actual handwritten books the LDS microfilmed. I can trace most of the St.
Boniface families back about five generations in Leimen. It is difficult to read,
and I have really done only the Kleins, who also came from there. For some
reason, the Kleins never married Yeagers or Annas, even in Leimen.
It is very difficult to keep the Yeagers apart. Which Margaret who married
Francis did you mean? I am almost sure that the family of Yeagers around St.
Patrick's in Newry and St. Mary's in Hollidaysburg are also the same
Yeager/Jager family. Another confusing thing is that in St. Boniface, the name
"Anthony" and "Andrew" seem to be interchangeable. The first Anton Yeager is, in
English, both "Anthony" and "Andrew," depending on which document you see.
