That's a good question Beth,
I have just been working on this. I put together a few things with a
timeline following, but.... this is credible only if I am correct in
thinking that Michael Joseph McGuire and Richard McGuire are BROTHERS and
are SONS of Michael McGuire & Rachel Brown. Please correct any info.
Brenda Wallace has extensively researched the McGuire family, and I think or
her as having the most complete information and the expert.
I have that Sarah Byrne & Michael Joseph McGuire had a daughter Mary Ann in
1803. This is the gal who married John Luther.
Ledoux vol 1 p 3
#00058 McGuire, Maria Anna (Michael/Sara Byrne)
b 09-__-1803 bp 09-__-1803
gp Michael Byrne/omitted
Michael's brother Richard married Sara's sister Eleanor:
Richard McGuire married Eleanor Byrne. No record of marriage (first marriage
at Loretto recorded in 1803), but baptisms at Loretto starting in 1801.
Michael McGuire and Sara Byrne had baby Mary Ann in 1803.No record of
marriage.
I found no marriage for John Platt & Sara, but in John Platt Sr.'s pension
file, Sara gives the date of their marriage as 1809. I do not believe Sara
was a widow as McGuire family history (thanks to Brenda Wallace) says
Michael moved to (or near) Baltimore, married and had children.

So..... I with this info & some Cambria Co & Platt family history info I put
together a timeline. Please let me know if any is incorrect.
1795: The Byrne family moves to Cambria Co (near the McGuire farm?)
pre 1800 Eleanor Byrne marries Richard McGuire
9/1800: Eleanor & Richard McGuire have a baby - Mary Anne
After the summer of 1801 (or as late as 1802): John Platt & family move to
Huntington Co. (Cambria Co)
9/1803: Eleanor Byrne & Richard McGuire have a baby - Bridgitte
9/1803: Sarah Byrne & Michael McGuire have a baby - Mary Ann
6/1807: Sarah is using the Byrne name at baptism of nephew Demetrius
1809: Sarah Byrne marries John Platt Jr.
2/4/1810: Michael McGuire is still in town for a baptism
6/15/1810: Sarah Byrne & John Platt Jr. have a baby - Elizabeth
1/29/1813: Sarah Byrne & John Platt Jr. have a baby - and name him Michael
Joseph same name as Mary Ann's father - Michael Joseph McGuire! what's with
that?
9/23/1821: Mary Anne gives surname McGuire, d. of Michael as a baptismal
sponsor
(note: her mother is also a sponsor)
5-31-1825: Mary Ann Byrne married John Luther
(her father has moved, she is now using her mother's maiden name)
I have a question associated with this mess?
In the Souvenir of Loretto & the book Gallitzin there is a Luke McGuire. Is
he related to Richard & Michael Joseph? If not, who are his parents?
Here is the info: (apologies - now this is really getting too long)
(There is no year associated with this list, but Bridget is 8 years old - b.
1803 and Catherine is 4 yrs old - b. 1807)
?1811?:

Rachel Bridget [Maguire], 8 years
Catharine [Maguire], 4 years
Julia [Maguire], 2 years

Subject: [PaCambri] John Luther, son of Conrad
> In looking at Rootsweb World Connect Project I find that everyone who has
posted information on John Luther, son of Conrad Luther, has John married to
Mary Ann Platt, 31 MAY 1835 in Loretto, Cambria Co., Pa. However, I find
the following in Ledoux Catholic Vital Records:
Ledoux CVR, Vol. I, p. 152, #03187 Luther, Joannes (deceased
Conradi/Elisabeth) m. 05-31-1825 Maria Anna Byrne (p.o.) wi: omitted
DAG.
So, did John marry Mary Ann Platt or Mary Ann Byrne???
