Hi!

I don't know of the second Stutzman School, but I thought that I seen
Stutzman School inscribed over the entrance of the Coopersdale School when
it was there....??? These kids attended Coopersdale School K through 6 and
then went to Garfield Jr High 7th through 10th grades and then on to JHS for
11th and 12th. I think that your answer as to where the old JHS building
was located was already answered...and yes, that was a shame to tear down
that school...Do you want to see the inside of the old JHS?? Rent a video of
"All the Right Moves" starring Tom Cruise as that is the the high school
where this film was produced!!
JHS was torn down shortly after that film was made...Funny, how Movie
producers could see value in that school, but our own town couldn't.

sometimes you can find old postcards or pictures on Ebay ofJHS...
Actually, there are 2 'old' Johnstown High School Buildings.
When I began searching on eBay for Johnstown High pictures; post cards of
this unfamiliar looking school would pop up when I clicked on Johnstown
High... However, I guess that those were really pictures of the old Joe
Johns Junior High and I guess that that WAS the first Johnstown High before
it moved across the road to where the "Old"High School was that we all
remember and talk about.
That very "first' JHS then became one of 3 Johnstown Junior Highs and was
know as Joseph Johns Junior High.. We also had Cochran Junior High which is
now the current JHS (I don't know exactly what is happenning to it right now
with this new high school that they are building-I think that the new one
should be built where the old one was that we all remember)...Cochran use to
have a lot of Gospel and Country music concerts in it's auditorium.
Last, but not least is our good old Garfield Jr. High! It still stands and
is the current Johnstown Middle School...I sure hope they let that school
live!!

:O) Joanne graduate JHS '64'

Hello list, is there anyone out there who is
knowledgable about the
schools in the Johnstown area? In the days of the STUTZMAN
schools, were
they used as a grade school and the students went to Johnstown
HS? I do know
where the two STUTZMAN schools are located,
