I was able to get baptismal records from the Altoona Diocese for ancestors born before and after 1900.
I first contacted Our Lady of Mt. Carmel parish where my ggrandparents lived, and the secretary there
gave me a name and the address of the cathedral in Altoona (Blessed Sacrament). I wrote them similar
to the way you did - offering a donation and providing a SASE. I received a reply about two weeks
after the letter was mailed.

Perhaps getting a name to whom you can address your request would help. In my case, I was confident
I was writing to the right person and place because of the secretary's assistance. Good Luck.

I need some advice on how to get copies of Baptismal, Marriage etc. records from the Catholic Diocese. I have written twice ( Nov. 99 and the first of March) and as of this date I've received no acknowledgement of my request. The Pittsburgh Diocese responded within days so I know that this service is still provided. I enclosed a self-addressed stamped envelope and offered to pay for copies or to make a donation to no avail.

SUGGESTIONS?
