Could he have been adopted or fostered out as an older child? Perhaps
the adoptive or foster parents changed his name though not legally & the SS#
had to be put in his legal name. It is unusual, but I have heard of it (& had
something similar though not exact happen with one of my lines). Either that
or perhaps Beth is right about the alias, it does sound like the same woman!
