Hi! I'm David Long, Manassas, Va. I have just been placed on your mailing
list, and I thank you very much. My father is Dorsey A. Long. His father,
Dorsey B. Long, my grandfather, came with his parents, Alexander Long, and
Elisabeth (Stiffler) Long , to Pittsburg, Kansas to enable Alexander to join
his brother John in the coal field of Southeastern Kansas surrounding
Pittsburg. Alexander Long - 1851-1889, Elisabeth (Stiffler) Long 1854-1938.
Alexander shortly after moving to Pittsburg, died, along with others after
coming down with Typhoid Fever from contaminated water they drank while
working at the mines. I am looking for any information on Alexander and the
Long Family. I have the history of Elisabeth, except their marriage,
children. I have the Stiffler connection back to 1800, but can't find out
what country "Stiffler" originated from. Great-grandfather Alexander and
GGmother Elisabeth Long. I have a wonderful picture of them that surely
dates back to the time when they were married, and as I look into their
intelligent looking faces on the wall of my living room, I can't help but
thing, "who are you". They had several other children other than my
grandfather Dorsey B., but the only ones I know are the oldest son, Austin,
and the younger son George. Can you help me?
