Subject: [PACAMBRI] Makin, Macon family brick wall
Date: Sat, 6 Nov 1999 17:10:54 EST
I have a brick wall with my gg grandmother Martha MAKIN born November 15,
1824 in Pennsylvania and died October 15, 1873 in Baxter County, ARkansas.
She was the third wife of my gg grandfather William R. ANDERSON, son of
Thomas and Elizabeth EDWARDS ANDERSON. Thomas and Elizabeth lived in Bedford,
Huntingdon, and Indiana Counties. Thomas died November 15, 1841 in Indiana
County, and Elizabeth died 1870.
Their son William R. was born 1818 and married #1 Elizabeth GORDON, ABT 1835.
Elizabeth died Feb 1851. In 1860 William was in Cambria County with wife
Martha with son Robert from lst marriage and my gr grandfather William
Andrew age 4, Edward James age 7, Isabella age 3 and Sarah age 1.
Family history had given Martha the maiden name of EDWARDS, but my gr
grandfathers death certificate gives Martha MAKIN for her maiden name. I
don't know if she was a widow MAKIN when she married William or not. on 1860
census there was a MAKIN Family right above William with the head of family
the age to be a brother to Martha.? The death certificate also gives William
Andrew's birth place as Broadtop, PA. which I believe was in Bedford County
at that time. My ANDERSON Ancestors came to Bedford County and Huntingdon
County about 1760's.
Other names in this family are WHITEHEAD, GOOD, LANZY, KEITH,
Any help appreciated. I will be glad to reciprocate and share what I have on
the families.
